It’s a great day to be a Bear!  As of today, both North Royalton teams are sitting pretty. The North Royalton Bears (Varsity A) have an overall record of 5-1 and are the 9th ranked team USA Hockey HS team in the state of Ohio.  The North Royalton Grizzlies (Varsity B) are off to an equally impressive start winning their last 7 games and boasting a 7-1 overall record.

The North Royalton Bears Hockey Association, in partnership with OBM Arena, just concluded our 3rd Annual Honey Pot Invitational Thanksgiving Tournament November 24-26th.  The tournament featured 2 divisions, a black division with four teams (Fremont, Western Reserve, Team Audi and NR Bears) and a purple division with six teams (Elyria, Kent, Cle Wildcats, Lake Erie Panthers, Mentor JV and NR Grizzlies).   The NR Bears and NR Grizzlies each posted 4-0 records in their respective divisions in route to earning their divisions respective championship trophies.

The Bears offense is led by a trio of seniors, Trevor Thompson (13pts.), Mike Eppich (12 pts.) and Bayley Caporuscio (8 pts.) as well as a few underclassmen, Dominic Markovitz (7pts.), Michael Savol (6 pts.) and Roman Jisa (7pts.).   On the defensive end, seniors Jake Hwodeky and Issac Reprogle along with underclassmen Gavin Gura and Hunter Theus guard the blue line while senior and returning starter Collin Mischak (4-1, 1.40 GAA) defends the net. Overall the Bears are quite deep both upfront and on the back end.

The North Royalton Grizzlies offensive attack is led by a solid mix of players; seniors Tyler Cimperman (14pts.), Matt Moore (12pts.), Anthony Monteleone (11pts.)  lead the way both on and off the ice while receiving solid support from underclassmen Blake Berkowitz (13pts.), Bryce Cooney (13pts.) and Jack Skocic (12pts.).  The defensive group is led by JT Dobrianky and Justin Schwarzer, both seniors, and Will Kozie, junior, while getting consistent support from Clark Brnilovich, freshman.  Sharing duties between the pipes are Brandon Dangerfield, junior, and Max Novey, sophomore; the two have only surrendered 8 goals to date.

December will be a busy month for both teams; the Bears will play 12 total games including December 8th at Quicken Loans Arena v. Kenston and an end of month appearance at the Lake Catholic Holiday Extravaganza, Holiday Tournament, in Mentor, OH.  The Grizzlies are busy themselves playing 7 times in the month kicking off their December participating in the Rock n Roll Cup December 1-3rd playing some tough out of state competition.
