The 2017-18 North Royalton Bears coaching staff will have a new look this season as long time Head Coach, Jeff McCarthy, has decided to step down as the programs Head Coach.  The decision was a tough one for Coach McCarthy who has led the Bears to an impressive 182 victories over 7 seasons as Head Coach but one that needed to be made to allow him more time to focus on his own children’s athletic endeavors.   Jeff will stay on with the Bears as Program Director and will also be an assistant to newly hire Head Coach, Jeff Tyhulski.

Coach Tyhulski will enter his 1st season as the North Royalton Bears Head Coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season and brings 25+ years of experience coaching all levels from Mite to Midget.  In his early days, Jeff played his college hockey at Cleveland State University followed by a stint playing semi-professional hockey with the Cleveland Golden Leafs. Jeff currently holds his Level 4 coaching certification with USA Hockey and has spent the past several seasons coaching in the Cleveland Barons organization.

In addition to returning assistant coaches, Tom Durica and Justin Zeman, the Bears have added longtime Brooklyn Youth Hockey and Cleveland Sharks coach, Adam Rich, to the staff as an assistant.  Coach Durica will enter his 12th season with North Royalton and Coach Zeman his 7th.  Coach Rich will enter his 1st season as a Bears assistant coach while still retaining his responsibilities as Hockey Director for the Brooklyn Youth Hockey Association and General Manager for the Cleveland Sharks.
